The whole works in Christian ministry

Conference Meeting
by Mary Harwell Sayler

Give me an assignment, Lord,
something to do –
something that beckons me
closer to You.

Let it be quiet,
or let it be grand,
but something that lets me
give You a hand,

a foot, or my I for Your eye.
Without this vengeance for work,
I fear I shall die!

What?
Am I listening?

Well, I guess…. I suppose
I could stand to sit down
and wait at the close
of each night, day, or noon.

But, Lord willing,
I’ll listen
and pray again – soon.
